Charity is caring and kind, it’s felt most when it’s genuine.
On Saturday 14th December 2019 we had a medical outreach at the female correctional facility kirikiri prison Lagos Nigeria.
#10Drstoprison an Efe Koloko initiative to take health professionals ( Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, Med. lab techs etc.) for consultation, screening, drug administration and provision of disposables amongst others to inmates so they can have better health in their correctional journey is supported by Dr. Ovundah Nyeche and coordinated by yours truly Kelechi.

The outreach kicked off at the Prison Clinic with our young vibrant team, help of the beautiful Nurse on duty and some inmates setting things up.
As the warden announced our arrival you need see the inmates trooping in with so much excitement, this gave me a sudden relieve and positive feedback that it’s a great cause.
Initially they were 319 inmates, then i was pleased to hear some got discharged during the week with 285 left. Sadly the team could only fully reach 126 persons and screened about 14 amongst whom are pregnant and nursing mothers. Sigh! We couldn’t continue as we ran out of drug supplies.
And oh, did i forget to mention we had a new born that morning? Yes! A baby girl!

It was a day well spent showing a little kindness, encouraging and putting smiles on faces amidst trials and tribulations. Thanks to everyone who donated to the #10Drstoprison, we know it can be a difficult time of the year for some & to the team we’re so grateful for your generosity & support.
As the holiday approach may your heart fill your cup until it overflows on humanity, know this- that there are people whose need is just a little care.
Hoping we get more donations/ sponsors in next and believing our outreach has made someone’s Christmas a little brighter – it’s the least we can do!
